ISSUE: Tucson and Water

Here in this desert city it rains 12 inches a year, and according to rainwater harvesting expert Brad Lancaster this is enough water if intentionally harvested to supply the city with all of its water needs. Instead, Tucson pipes in water from the Rio Grande, draining this precious river and costing millions -- so unneccesary! Here are some photos of Tucsonians' relationship with water.

"Get the rainwater out of my yard ASAP, but let me use 'clean' city water to irrigate my plants!"

Just a correction - Tucson imports water 3,000 feet uphill and 300 miles from the Colorado river rather than the Rio Grande.

And a resource - for water harvesting info check out www.HarvestingRainwater.com.
