Zimbabwe!

All I really knew about Zimbabwe before I came to Africa was that it's a dictatorship right now, and there's massive inflation and food/fuel shortages. I wanted to visit to see for myself what life is like in such conditions, and what people might be doing to organize the grassroots in the midst of such oppression and difficult conditions.

My first experience was at the border, watching car after car enter Zim from South Africa, loaded with goods that they couldn't get in Zim.

My second experience was learning that many people in Zim are named beautiful things like: Peace, Innocent, Gift, Teach, Justice, etc. These are their given names, given in English. There definitely seems to be a higher percentage of people that I have met in Zim than other countries with these kinds of names. Just thought it was interesting. This photo is of Peace... who I spent the 14 hour bus ride with. Very sweet.
