ISSUE: Spraaaaaaaaawl
Can you imagine a city with 6 to 8-lane roads every half mile, gridding the city into neatly confined squares for cookie cutter developments and gated "communities"? And instead of neighborhood centers, the only "places" are strip malls and chain stores?!
I just learned that Tucson had a chance to create an urban growth boundary at the same time that Portland did... man o man what a different quality of life exists in these two cities.
There are an incredible number of gated communities here, and some have sub(ju)gated sections within the main gates. When are people going to realize that they have built themselves into a cage?
